Time for you to get a look of the amazing people behind QBank DAM. This week I would like to introduce you to one of our amazing developers. I sat down and had a chat with the owner of the unicorn mug, Charlotte “Charlie” Nilsson.
So, who is Charlie?
I am 27 years old, born and raised in Umeå in northern Sweden but found my way down to Stockholm in 2012. After high school I had a short career as a chef - I realized quickly it wasn’t for me. In 2016 I graduated from Liljeholmen Vocational College’s Java Developer program. Shortly after that I got my first job as a Web Developer.
How come you didn’t engage in system development?
After I graduated I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do as there are so much to choose from in the developer world. Prior to QBank I’ve tried working as a Backend Developer but it didn’t satisfy my need for creativity at work. When I found QBank I knew it was the perfect fit.
I was about to say that you are a QBank newbie, but your anniversary is coming up this summer. Time flies… Can you sum up your time as a junior web developer at QBank so far?
We are a great dev team and I have gained so much experience, especially from my competent and awesome senior Developer colleagues. Learning new things everyday makes my work so much fun and I get to use my creativity to refine my problem solving and coding skills.
What’s a typical day like for you? A typical day at work for me begins with coffee, music and then getting straight into my current projects. My work varies a lot from day to day: everything from assisting our customers with different kinds of support questions and daily maintenance of our frontend products.
I work closely with my Project Leader and together we find solutions alongside our customers, so they get a functioning product that fulfil their needs.
How can I interview you without talking about you being an awesome DJ. In fact, we get to call you our in-house DJ, which is so cool. I also think it’s really cool. I’ve been DJ’ing for three years and it’s my biggest passion in life. To also have your colleagues support and believe in you like this, helps so much with growing confidence and personal development in so many ways.
