It’s hard to imagine the streets of Stockholm - now flooded in wonderful summer sunshine - will be filled with something we call “slask” in a few months. While Eskimos are said to have over 300 different words for snow, we only have 150 or so here in Sweden. Which brings me to the topic of this post - keywords.
A DAM system can be a wonderful piece of software that helps you find exactly what you want, when you need it. When assets come flowing in from a number of different sources, a common and shared vocabulary is a great resource. In QBank DAM, one way to do this is by tagging assets using keywords. Keywords helps the asset contributor quickly describe an asset without resorting to lenghty descriptions. For a user looking for a particular asset, seeing a list of available keywords gives an overview of what is available.
The challenge with keywords, like synonyms are that they refer to similar things, and different people can make different associations. Over time, when your keyword lists grows, QBank DAM allows you to easily consolidate multiple similar keywords into one, no matter how many asset have already been uploaded and tagged - QBank automatically re-tags all assets with the new keywords.
And by the way, “slask” is a particular mix of water and snow and dirt. Mostly grey in color. Unsuitable for making snowballs!
